POSTPARTUM CARE
Postpartum depression
Many women suffer from depression after the birth of their baby, and they often do not seek out medical attention. They think it is "unnatural " to feel the way they do, when it is in fact perfectly normal. Hormonal changes have a great effect, but also the new responsibilities, lack of sleep and the work involved in caring for a newborn can make a new mother feel overwhelmed. It is important to be aware of the symptoms, and seek specialized medical advice. In this office we use specific tools to diagnose this problem and can prescribe appropriate medical treatment if necessary, including referrals to specialized professionals with experience in postpartum depression.
