What is blepharitis?
Blepharitis is a common condition where the eyelids become inflamed. It can affect people of all ages.
The basic causes of blepharitis are not known accurately, it can be associated with an ocular bacterial infection, a dysfunction of Meibomio’s gland, dry eye, or some types of skin diseases such as rosácea.
The symptoms more common of blepharitis are burning or stinging of the eyes, dandruff at the base of the eyelashes, tearing, and foreign body sensation.
Blepharitis is a long-term condition. Normally it is not possible to recover, but a daily routine of cleaning eyelids can help to control the symptoms.
The most serious cases can require antibiotics that are applied directly to the eyelid or take pills when they are suspected systemic pathologies.
