Phonosurgery can be performed through endolarynx microsurgery (using a microscope), both using specific instrumentation (microforceps, scisors, vacuums) or CO2 laser using micromanipulators that can be attached to the microscope.
What is the base of the skull?
The skull base is the zone where the brain rests on and separates it from the nose and the face. It is the floor or the brain and the ceiling of the nose.
It is the hardest to reach region of the body. It has multiple openings of various sizes through which important vessels and nerves go. The tumours that grow here are hard to reach since they hide in those holes or get tangled with nerves and blood vessels of vital importance.
