Fractures of the Knee

Fracturas de la rodillaFracturas de la rodillaThe knee joint engages the lower end of the femur and upper tibia. Other anatomic structures such as meniscae, ligaments and cartilage surface are important parts of the knee joint which make treatment one of the more complex surgeries of the skeleton. The bone injuries at this level are produced by high energy trauma from road traffic accidents, falls from great heights to sports such as soccer, downhill skiing, rugby, martial arts, motorsports, etc. The huge range of injuries at this level requires a thorough study before making treatment decisions. Recent advances in arthroscopic technique have led to the creation of minimum wound treatment where an optical camera is introduced allowing the repair of the injury under direct vision.
