Antibody test

Conventional blood draw test, which detects IgM and IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 using the reference test (ELISA/chemiluminescence): Quantitative immunoassay with CE marking.

Provides information about when the infection occurred, as it detects two types of antibodies that are generated at different times during the infectious process: the IgM and IgG immunoglobulins.

The sensitivity and specificity of our serological tests are close to 100%.

Although it is possible to recover from COVID-19 without developing antibodies, a positive result in this test indicates the following:

  • Positive IgG and negative IgM antibodies: infection overcome and currently inactive.
  • Positive IgM antibodies: may indicate an active infection, especially if accompanied by negative IgG antibodies.

* Contact your GP or health centre if you have a positive test result, in order to advise you on whether further laboratory tests or isolation measures are necessary. Maintain strict hygiene and infection prevention measures by wearing masks and practising hand hygiene.

Characteristics and advantages of COVID-19 tests - Antibodies Test

Detects antibodies produced by the patient infected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

  • Useful from the first week, when the first antibody (IgM) appears. The second antibody (IgG) appears from the third week.
  • Results in 2 hours.
  • Sample obtained by blood draw during the same appointment.
  • If you have been infected with COVID-19, it indicates the stage of the illness you may be experiencing: active (IgM) or previously infected (IgG).
