Neurovascular Functional Unit

The treatment of cerebrovascular disease has seen significant progress over the last five years with the refinement of pharmacological and endovascular reperfusion therapies. However, effective prevention of disease recurrence is crucial. This requires immediate treatment of the disease, accurately identifying the cause of the stroke, and planning the most effective and safest preventive treatment.

PROGRAMMES

  • Follow-up of ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke: identification of the cause and assessment of the risk of recurrence
  • Therapeutic counselling for stroke prevention (primary prevention) and recurrence prevention (secondary prevention)
  • Advice on medical, surgical, endovascular or radiosurgical treatment indications for arteriovenous malformations, cavernomas, and cerebral or spinal dural fistulas
  • Risk assessment and prevention of vascular dementia
  • Endovascular, microsurgical and radiosurgical approaches to cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVM), cavernomas and dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVF)
