Comprehensive Tobacco Addiction Unit

Specific Lung Examination

Our Pulmonology team, led by renowned professionals, performs specific lung check-ups on patients at the Comprehensive Tobacco Addiction Unit at Centro Médico Teknon. This medical check-up consists of an initial consultation with a pulmonologist, who will assess the need for further diagnostic tests to be carried out on the same day by our multidisciplinary team, such as: lung diffusion test (Diffusing Capacity of the Lungs for Carbon Monoxide - DLCO), cooximetry, general blood test, low-dose CAT scan (LDCT), etc.

The results of this initial visit will determine the need for treatment and follow-up and/or participation in the early lung cancer diagnosis programme. In all cases, our medical team will always recommend undergoing the smoking cessation programme with our specialists.

Furthermore, we want to let you know that you are not alone on this journey. A specialist nurse will be responsible for accompanying you throughout the testing process. In addition to personalised care, you will be able to ask any questions you may have, share your experiences and discuss any moments of crisis whenever you need to.

Smoking cessation programme

Because we know how difficult it is to quit smoking, we support you with a personalised smoking cessation programme tailored to your needs. There is no other cessation programme on the market that is so comprehensive and holistic, focusing on controlling and identifying the critical moments that patients who want to quit smoking may experience. Our team of professionals from various disciplines will accompany you so that you can successfully reach your goal. Smoking is harmful to your health, which is why we want to help you through our programme:

  • Initial appointment with one of our pulmonologists (lung specialists).
  • Initial visit with our psychologists to establish a specific date for the start of the cessation process.
  • Follow-up visits by nursing staff and/or the psychologist. The start date of the cessation will be taken as a reference point, and visits will be scheduled for 15 days, 6 weeks, 3, 6 and 12 months later.
  • The programme also offers complementary services in a package format consisting of a visit to a nutritionist, a visit with a physical trainer, and a respiratory physiotherapy visit.
