Palliative Care Unit

The Palliative Care Unit at Teknon Oncology Institute provides comprehensive active care for patients with serious, advanced illnesses and their families, aiming to improve their quality of life.
The Unit comprises a multidisciplinary team of specialists who address the symptoms of the disease, pain, psychological aspects, and spiritual support, to provide wellbeing and relief at any stage of the illness.
Main objectives
- Relieve pain and other symptoms:
The unit focuses on managing physical suffering, such as pain, difficulty breathing, or sleep problems. - Improve quality of life:
The aim is for patients to enjoy their day-to-day life, regardless of the severity or stage of their illness. - Offer emotional and spiritual support:
The team offers psychological support to patients and their families to help them cope with their illness and life changes, including matters of faith and values. - Provide support to family members:
The team also supports caregivers and families, providing resources and care even after the patient's death in order to help them with their grieving.
Who makes up the team?
The team is multidisciplinary and includes specialist doctors and nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, pain management professionals, and spiritual care experts.
