La radioterapia usa, principalmente, radiaciones ionizantes de muy alta energía cuyo objetivo es destruir las células tumorales impidiendo su división acelerada.

El objetivo de la quimioterapia es destruir las células que componen el tumor, con el fin de lograr la reducción de la enfermedad. Estos fármacos llegan prácticamente a todos los tejidos del organismo, y ahí es dónde ejercen su acción, tanto sobre las células malignas como sobre las sanas.
